Giving you tips and techniques to Stretch and Strengthen the Gluteus Medius This is one of the easiest take home exercises to give your clients if they suffer from weak and unstable Glut Medius and Minimus muscles. Side lying with a bolster or rolled up towel between the knees, have them flex the hips and knees to 45 degrees. They keep the heels together and simply lift the top knee 2-3 cms (1-2 inches) from the lower limb. The keys here are a) relax the top leg completely on each return to the bolster and b) to have them focusing on the heels, they will push the top heel into the lower one to access their lower fascial connective tissues. This exercise is repeated 20 times once a day and completed with a gluteal self stretch with legs in the figure 4 position and drawing the bent upper knee to the chest.
